CAPS BIOCLUB

The CAPS Bioclub facilitates biology related extra-curricular opportunities and experiences for students across the Blue Valley School District.  There are a range of events that you can be involved in, from biology related competitions and informal biology related social and educational events, to community service project.  Below is a highlight a few of these activities.

Students of all ages who are not currently involved in the CAPS Bioscience Program are welcome to participate. Joining with us in one of these events could allow you to get to know the CAPS Bioscience instructors and students, so that you could better gauge your interest in joining the program in the future.

Keep up to date by joining our mailing list and joining the Bioscience Club group on Facebook.

ROBOTICS CLUB

The varsity Sport for the MindTM, FIRST Robotics (For the Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. Under strict rules, limited resources, and time limits, teams of 25 students or more are challenged to raise funds, design a team “brand,” hone teamwork skills, and build and program robots to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors. It’s as close to “real-world engineering” as a student can get. Volunteer professional mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team.

Blue Valley’s Metal Mustangs Robotics Team 2410 is housed out of the CAPS program. Each year the team is supported by a host of mentors, business partners, parents and faculty. For information on joining or supporting the team, contact Coach Dan Ritter.

EDUCATORS RISING

The CAPS Educators Rising (formerly Future Educators Association) membership is embedded in the Teacher Education program. The CAPS Chapter participates in various activities that pertain to educational careers and instruction. Students perform community service and professional development as part of the program, and also participate in group activities such as face painting for children at the Kansas City Make A Wish Walk and other activities.

Members of our chapter travel each year to the FEA National Conference where they have been presenters for the past several years.
