It is an amazing opportunity to be involved in the Center for Advanced Professional Studies (CAPS) which are nationally recognized, innovative high school programs. The focus of CAPS is collaboration, innovation, and education.
All SCNUSD #5 students are able to fast forward into their future and are immersed in a professional culture, solving real world problems, using industry standard tools and are mentored by actual employers, all while receiving high school and college credit. NCAPS is an example of how business, community and public education can partner to produce personalized learning experiences that educate the workforce of tomorrow, especially in high skill, high demand jobs.
A message from the NCAPS Director Dr. Stan Essink
The Nebraska Center for Advanced Professional Studies (NCAPS) is designed to provide exceptional college and career training for rural students and is the first of its kind in Nebraska. The collaborative, interdisciplinary learning environment encourages students to develop the skills needed for tomorrow’s careers and the opportunity to get professional experience from business and industry experts.
It is truly a privilege for me to work with our students and the many business and community leaders that make NCAPS such a unique learning opportunity. Helping students develop their professional skills and find a career field they are passionate about has been very rewarding and I believe we are having a tremendous impact on the future of our graduates.
